Hello, I'm Chris!

I was born in Plymouth, Devon and grew up in the countryside village of Mary Tavy surrounded by nature, hills and the beautiful scenery of Dartmoor. Growing up in this idyllic location, I developed an interest in art and the natural world. During my school years in Mary Tavy and Tavistock, it became apparent to me that my favourite subject was art and design and so this led to me becoming a design student at Plymouth College of Art and Design in September 2000.

After my early student years in Devon, I began to nurture my love for photography and moved to Salisbury, Wiltshire in 2004 where I spent the next 3 years studying photography at Salisbury College and Bournemouth University. Whilst an undergraduate at Bournemouth University, I found a niche photographing animals and I won the Grand Prize in Panasonic's Photographer of the Year competition 2006 which gave me a 1 week all inclusive stay at the Waldorf Astoria in New York. I also won the PIEA PMA Grand First Prize for the Colleges and Universities category 2007 where I competed against more than 6,000 other entries from photography students around the world and had my winning image "Donk" exhibited in Las Vegas before going on a world tour of photography institutions.

I am now based in Amesbury, Wiltshire and working as a freelance photographer and graphic designer. I have recently licensed work to Dynmark International and Ohio's Rock radio station QFM 96 for use on advertising campaigns. Some more of my work can also been found on retail products such as books, greetings cards, tax disc holders, kids rucksacks and calendars in both Europe and the USA, as well as internationally in publications including: Photography Monthly, What Digital Camera, Digital SLR Photography, Shutterbug, Popular Photography, Art of England, BluePrint, WILD, The Times Educational Supplement and The Field Magazine.

Since graduating with a BA honours Degree in Photography at Bournemouth University in 2007, I have done a lot of work and spent much of my time enhancing my skills and I even spent 4 years working as a Graphic and Packaging designer for an Automotive Company in Hungerford, Berkshire, working with well known Brands such as Disney, Nickleodeon, Hello Kitty and Airwick.

A few of my latest achievements include licensing one of my piglet images to the US animal rights charity PETA which appeared as the main component on their controversial billboard ad campaign "Try Vegan" in Chicago as well as in 24 London Underground stations to highlight animal cruelty and to promote Veganism. My photography has also appeared on the front covers of Terra Nuova Magazine in Italy, Salisbury Life Magazine in the UK aswell as on two book covers: "Reptiles - A Question and Answer Book" ISBN: 9781491406335 and "Aprender Flash CS6" ISBN: 9788426718419
